Corrupt and chronically mismanaged Detroit
is headed for bankruptcy. The onetime Arsenal of Democracy had a population of 1.8 million in 1950--only 700,000 people live in Detroit now. Liberal Democrats have been mayor of Detroit since 1962, the lowlight of that period was the twenty-year reign of the corrupt, bombastic, and race-baiting
Coleman Young, perhaps the worst mayor in American history, although he doesn't appear on many "worst" lists. You can thank political correctness for that--Young was black. He was never charged with a crime, although one of Young's successors, Kwame Kilpatrick,
was charged and
later went to prison.
Hopefully Detroit can reflect on this ignominious moment--as an alcoholic should after a DUI arrest--and make the commitment for a new beginning.
