During my run yesterday I discovered a snow bunting in Morton Grove's Linne Woods restored prairie.
This bird is circumpolar. As for the western hemisphere, it migrates south from the arctic each winter--although its migratory range doesn't extend much further south than the Chicago area.
This is the bunting's winter plumage--its spring and summer look is whiter.
