(Photo) Des Plaines River

There are several dozen photographs of the North Branch of the Chicago River on Marathon Pundit, but none of the larger Des Plaines River, which is also near my home.

While my car was being repaired in the town of Des Plaines, I went for a long run and I had my camera with me.

There's a fabulous river path that passes through the forest preserves and downtown Des Plaines--and that I where I snapped this picture last Friday.

The headwaters of the Des Plaines are in southern Wisconsin. The waterway continues to flow south until it meets the Kankakee--forming the Illinois River in Grundy County southwest of Joliet.
