After thirty-six hours of non-stop Occupy Chicago coverage, it's back to the real world for a bit. One of the big stories in Illinois is Governor Pat Quinn's Medicaid reform. And a couple of downstate legislators representing border districts are expressing opposition to a $1 hike in the state cigarette tax to partially pay for it--because smokers will buy their cigarettes outside of Illinois, as I've been saying all along. The end result could even less revenue from smoking taxes than prior to theproposed tax increase.
