At the turn of the last century, Richard Thompson toured with a show, "1,000 Years of Popular Music." It began with a traditional English round, Sumer Is Icumen In, a big hit in 1068. It ends with a "rather crass song," Britney Spears' Oops, I Did It Again. Give Thompson's performance a chance. With just himself and light percussion, the talented guitarist adds elements of 16th century music to Britney's signature song.
It ends up not so crass. In fact, it sounds great.
