The April unemployment figures are in--the jobless rate climbed from 8.8 percent to 9.0 percent. But the economy added 244,000 jobs--mostly private-sector positions. The unemployment rate went up because the federal government measures households in a separate survey.
Once again, I have to remind you that the Obama administration vowed that the unemployment rate would not exceed 8 percent once the stimulus bill was enacted.
