Move to Foster Transparency in Village Government
HOMER GLEN, IL — Jim Daley, Mayor of Homer Glen, IL, today called for the Village check register to be posted on the Village Web site to provide openness and transparency to the taxpayers.
"We owe it to the Homer Glen taxpayers to be fully open and transparent with their tax dollars," said Mayor Daley. "Through our fiscal responsibility, we have protected their tax dollars and kept Homer Glen's budget balanced. Now, the taxpayers will be able to see exactly how their tax dollars are being spent."
Daley will make the announcement at tonight’s Village Board meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Board Chambers (14917 S. Founders Crossing, Homer Glen).
He noted that the Village is currently upgrading its technology and software and will include this transparency endeavor as part of that process.
Elected in 2007, Mayor Daley’s tenure has been marked by a philosophy of "government-lite and fiscally strong." He has worked to bring common sense progress to Homer Glen, while preserving local residents' quality of life.
Mayor Daley has fought wasteful spending, while spearheading meaningful economic development projects, to provide the Village with a balanced budget. He has pledged that, as long as he is mayor, the Village will see no municipal property tax.
