FBN: Aviation CEO discusses benefits of a non-union workforce

Hey UAW: Lose the attitude
The Fox Business Network takes a look at unions in a story that is you really need to see. First the UAW is looking to organize foreign automakers that operate assembly plants in the United States. I'm sure it hasn't occurred to the union bosses that such firms are doing well because they are not burdened by union work rules.

FBN interviews Cirrus Aircraft CEO Brent Wouters for the segment. As with other aviation firms, the recession has Cirrus hard--airplane production is down one-third since 2007. Being non-union, Wouters says, "has allowed us to implement rapid changes in work rules, in production schedules, in everything--including salaries" to adjust to the falloff in demand for his aircraft. And save the company as well. That's right, save the company. And lots of jobs.

Remember card check? That anti-democratic manner for workers to determine whether they want to join a union--is preferred by labor bosses over the time-tested secret ballot method we use to elect our public officials. The National Labor Relations Board, which includes card check zealot Craig Becker, is threatening to sue Arizona, Utah, South Dakota, and South Dakota because they recently passed legislation banning card check in their states.

Oh, I though President Obama liked business now? Businesses, you know, those job creators, they hate card check.

And finally, Big Labor will be spending big bucks--dues money of course, on a public relations splash touting public-sector unions.

As John Prine once sang, "It's a big old goofy world."

Oh, since he was a recess appointment, is it possible for Obama to fire Craig Becker? Just wondering.
