Chicago mayoral race down to six candidates

A few months ago there were twenty candidates to succeed Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Between dropouts and ballot kickouts, there are only six hopefuls left. Here the are, in order of the placement on the ballot: Rahm Emanuel, Miguel del Valle, Carol Moseley Braun, Gery Chico, Patricia Van Pelt Watkins and William Walls.

The positioning was determined by lottery--Emanuel didn't originally have the top spot, but attrition has smiled upon the former White House chief of staff.

Besides this race, Chicagoans will vote for 50 aldermen, the city treasurer, and the city clerk on February 22. If no candidate wins a majority in the first round, the top two candidate face off in April.
