Sal Giunta to receive Medal of Honor this afternoon

Last week I wrote about Iowa's Freedom Rock. Each year it's repainted--I'm thinking that Iowan Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta will be a part of next year's artwork.

This afternoon Giunta will become the first living soldier to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War.

Giunta went from working in a Subway to fighting in Afghanistan. In 2007 he showed exceptional bravery when he protected his platoon from a Taliban ambush in the Korangal Valley in an operation called Rock Avalanche.

Here's a video report on Giunta:

Warning--some profanity.
