"Bankers don’t need another vote in the United States Senate -- they’ve got plenty." Barack Obama, January 19, 2010.
President Obama will be at the Drake Hotel in Chicago to raise money for US Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias, the failed mob banker.
Recently, it has been reported that Giannoulias lied when he said that he left Broadway Bank in 2005 to run for state treasurer. But his tax returns show that he worked 500 hours for the bank--which failed this spring--in 2006. During an endorsement interview with the Chicago Tribune editorial board, Giannoulias was unable to identify any federal spending cuts he'd approve among the orgy of cash outlays from the last two years. And he flip flopped on renegotiating NAFTA.
On that last one, well, Obama did that too.
The first lady will come to Chicago next week to raise more money for Giannoulias.
