ILSen: DSCC cuts outrageous ad for Mob Banker against Kirk

Yesterday I blogged about a Chicago political activist and blogger who was recruiting veterans for a "Swiftboat" type ad against Republican Mark Kirk, a longtime Navy reservist who got himself in some political hot water for embellishing a service record that he should be proud of,

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has an ad that seems to be the finished result in regards to that search. Kirk is running against failed Mob Banker and Democrat Alexi Giannoulias.

Well, they found their vets--although none of them identify themselves. I'll assume they are military veterans--if they are not, well, Giannoulias has a big problem on his hands. At least the sixty-ish man says "Kahn-griss" like a true Chicagoan--and based upon the foliage in the trees shown--we can assume it was filmed here over the last few days. Watch it if you must.

As the Weekly Standard reports, the DSCC ad is unlisted--are they ashamed of it? After all, Giannoulias has never served--and may be a draft dodger from the Greek military. Giannoulias has dual American and Greek citizenship.

In related news, Giannoulias has accused Kirk of "economic treason." Treason...that's an awfully strong word--but it fits into a coordinated "mob hit" of dirty politics.

From the Weekly Standard:

While Giannoulias never served one day in uniform (save the basketball uniform he sported when he played over in a Greek league), Kirk's Officer Fitness Report from his Iraq service calls him "one of the most combat-tested Aviation Intelligence Officers in the Naval Reserve." The report goes on to say that Kirk "provided aircrew an in-depth understanding of the Iraqi Integrated Air Defense Systems within the Tactical Area of Responsibility (TAOR) for combat operations during Operation Northern Watch (ONW)."

UPDATE October 24: Fox 32 Chicago just ran the DSCC ad, it aired right after the Chicago Bears game--they lost, ironically, to the Washington Redskins.
