Feds spending $27 million on lower-case lettering NYC street signs

lThe Obama administration, not content with a wasting $20 million and counting on what I call stimulus campaign signs, thinks New York City needs new street signs. So as Publius Forum reports, the signs need to say "Broadway" instead of "BROADWAY."

Cost: $27 million.

Why can't they replace them one at a time? The signs are never stolen, vandalized, or damaged in vehicle accidents?  I mean, this is New York.

UPDATE: I mixed up upper-case versus lower case on an earlier version of this post.
