Alexi Giannoulias, the Democratic candidate for the US Senate seat currently held be Rod Blagojevich-appointee Roland Burris, has been distancing himself from Broadway Bank since it became clear that his family-owned bank was in serious financial trouble a year ago. Last fall Giannoulias, who approved some loans to convicted mobsters, said "I haven't been [at Broadway] for almost four years..."
Perhaps. But did you know that Giannoulias' 2006 state treasurers' campaign was launched from the Broadway Bank branch on Chicago's West Loop?
Yep, Broadway Bank operated at 900. W. Van Buren.
CORRECTION 11:00pm: An earlier version failed to mention that Giannoulias' 2006 state treasurer campaign, not his Senate run, began at Broadway Bank.
