Illinois has a trophy coming its way. No, not the Stanley Cup, the Chicago Blackhawks won that last week. I'm talking about what Doug Ross calls "the national title for the highest per capita budget deficit and the most ridiculously underfunded pension plan!"
Even more so than the Blackhawks, it's a well-deserved honor. I'm joking about the trophy, but maybe one is needed. I'd love to haul it from Rockford to Carbondale and tie up traffic, just as the Stanley Cup did in Chicago's Edison Park neighborhood last night just a few miles from my home.
We're number one!
