Bradley Tusk, who served as disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's deputy governor, testified at his former bosses' corruption trial yesterday. Tusk described him as detached and rarely in the office. Worse, Blago "wasn't always engaged in the process." His incompetence has saddled Illinois with $13 billion in debt
As for Blago's laziness, among those who closely follow Illinois politics, this is nothing new. He spent most of his time at home, or at his Northwest Side office--but not in Springfield or Chicago's State of Illinois Building. He didn't do the job Illinois voters hired him to do.
Blagojevich was much more enthusiastic about raising cash for himself and his campaign fund, he's even being accused of shaking down then-Congressman Rahm Emanuel.
But with a few exceptions, Illinois Democrats lined up to support Blago in his 2006 reelection campaign. They knew what they had on their hands. Pat Quinn re-upped as his running mate.
And Illinois is a basketcase.
Something to think about in November.
