Wal-Mart hosting Tuesday jobs fair on Chicago's South Side

The unemployment rate in the Chicago area is at 10.9 percent, one point higher than the rest of the nation. Wal-Mart is trying to help out, not only is the retail king working on opening a second store in the city, it's hosting a jobs fair not too far way from where they hope to unpack that big box, as this press release explains.

WHAT: Wal-Mart and more than 35 companies will host an informational job fair. Participating businesses include Home Depot, Chicago Mini Bus Travel, AFLAC & more…

WHEN: Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 10am-3pm.

WHERE: House of Hope Church, 752 East 114th St, Chicago.
If a labor union ever held an open-to-the-public jobs fair, then I missed it. Organized labor is using its considerable muscle to block the South Side Wal-Mart, and of course, hundreds of jobs.
