Mark Kirk's jobs plan

Contrary to the belief of some misguided souls, the Mark Kirk Senate campaign isn't all about Broadway Bank--although the collapse of the Giannoulias family-owned bank is a legitimate issue.

Kirk, a Republican congressman, unveiled his jobs program today. Giannoulias is beholden to anti-jobs Democratic policies, one of which is his strong support for the so-called Employee Free Choice Act, which will take away workers' right to a secret-ballot election when deciding to join a union. Businesses dislike EFCA, snap-unionization creates extra expenses, which will lead to fewer jobs.

Showing he's more interested in pleasing his union pals instead of creating jobs, Giannoulias offer supports renegotiating the North American Free Trade Act.

Here is what Kirk offers:

Kirk Jobs Plan Protects Illinois Families

Giannoulias Wants It Both Ways; Can’t Be "Pro-Family" Yet Raise State and Federal Taxes

"With nearly 12 percent unemployment, Congressman Kirk supports pro-growth, low-tax policies to add Illinois jobs. Kirk authored the Small Business Bill of Rights to create much-needed jobs in Illinois," said Kirk for Senate spokesperson Kirsten Kukowski. "If Alexi Giannoulias listened to Illinois families, he wouldn't be pushing for state and federal tax increases that will kill the very jobs Illinois families need to make ends meet. Balancing work and family is easier if your taxes do not go up the way Giannoulias wants. Giannoulias already cost Illinois families $70 million through his mismanagement of the Bright Start college savings program."

Kirk's Pro-Job Plan

Congressman Kirk authored the Small Business Bill of the Rights – 10 policies to add jobs in Illinois 's top employer - small business. The plan, endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business, would provide small business employers with capital gains, AMT and death tax relief, cut government red tape, lower health care costs and protect a worker’s right to a secret ballot in a union election.

Giannoulias Wants to Increase Both State and Federal Taxes Illinois Families Must Pay

With rising unemployment and a struggling economy, jobs are key to economic recovery in Illinois. But Giannoulias wants to raise taxes on families and small businesses:
  • Alexi Giannoulias called for a state income tax increase, which would hit Illinois families and small business employers.
  • Alexi Giannoulias said he wants to roll back current tax relief and bring back the death tax on small business employers.
  • Alexi Giannoulias supported the 12 new federal taxes in the recent health care bill, which the National Federation of Independent Business called "devastating" for small business.
