Chief Blackhawk outside the United Center

The Chicago Blackhawks need one more win to reach the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1992, they haven't one the Cup since 1961.

Their red sweater, emblazoned with Chief Blackhawk, is often declared to be the best jersey in the NHL, if not all of sports. Possibly because of their lack of success of late, the Blackhawks have avoided the scorn of Native American activist groups. A trip to the finals, and more pictures like this one, could change that.

The photograph was taken outside the United Center about three hours ago by Mrs. Marathon Pundit.

UPDATE 4:50pm: Blackhawks win! They sweep the San Jose Sharks! The bad news. Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith got in the face with a puck in the first period--he lost four teeth.

Can you afford those expensive stanley cup finals tickets?

One yes. But I don't want to go by myself--and my wife wants to go to. Fortunately, unlike 1992, the home games will be on TV.
