Union bosses pushing NLRB to implement job killing agenda

The focus of our government should be on job creation. But organized labor, as the Workforce Fairness Institute points out, has a different agenda.

The Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) today released the following statement in response to reports that First Chair of Change to Win and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Officer Anna Burger called for "push[ing]" the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to enact portions of the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act (EFCA):

"Whether its Andy Stern or Anna Burger, Big Labor is committed to hurting small businesses, disenfranchising workers, and promoting policies that result in job loss. With labor radical Craig Becker on the National Labor Relations Board, union bosses know they have a loyal disciple who is will do their bidding," said Katie Packer, executive director of the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI). "Small businesses owners and workers around the country understand the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act will increase unemployment and set up back. They are closely following the actions of the NLRB, and will hold this administration and its supporters to account if job-killing policies continue to be pursued."

BACKGROUND:

First Chair Of Change To Win & SEIU Officer Anna Burger Calls For NLRB To Enact Portions Of EFCA:

"Use smart strategies to push the labor friendly majority on the NLRB to level the playing field and make it easier to organize through regulation and reconciliation to make quick elections and first contract arbitration the law of the land. And finally we must face up to the challenge of rebuilding our ability to win traditional NLRB organizing campaigns, as well as exploring new models for organizing the private/private sector where millions of workers, not dependent on shrinking public dollars live on poverty wages in SEIU strongholds." (Letter, "One Union…Building On Our Unity And Strength," Anna Burger, 4/18/10)

Union Bosses Expect Becker To Use "Administrative Action" To Enact Portions Of EFCA:

"We are very close to the 60 votes we need. It [sic] we aren't able to pass the Employee Free Choice Act, we will work with President Obama and Vice President Biden and their appointees to the National Labor Relations Board to change the rules governing forming a union through administrative action..."
