Ill. Dems post lt guv candidates' applications online

After the Jack Ryan debacle in 2004, the Illinois Republican Party hosted an open casting call to replace the GOP US Senate nominee after he was forced to quit the ticket after a sex scandal derailed his chances to win in the fall. One applicant was a young man who wore a powdered wig and lived in his car. But the party passed on this guy and chose Maryland resident Alan Keyes.

After a sex scandal...well, there was more to it than that...derailed the chances of pawnbroker Scott Lee Cohen becoming Illinois' next lieutenant governor, the state Democratic party has decided to host an open casting call to replace him. Those applications are online, and as far as I can gather, none of candidates wear powdered wigs, one man, a former aide to a Chicago alderman, lists his most recent job as a clerk for an automobile repossession firm.

I'm going thru some of those applications and this is a sad list of aspirants. You know what I thought about Alan Keyes when the Dems went thru this process. Not looking good at all!
