Chile hit by powerful earthquake

A powerful earthquake struck Chile overnight near the city of Concepción. It measured 8.8 on the Richter scale, for perspective, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake was believed to be a 7.8 magnitude occurrence, and the recent Haiti earthquake reached only 7.0.

My prayers are with the Chileans, and anyone who may be in the path of a tsunami.

How scary and frightening! The quake happened at a time when most people were sleeping. I hope the United States and other foreign countries send aid to the people of Chile as soon as possible. They will need it. I further hope that no tsunamis strike any other country as a result of this quake. That would be even more devastating.
