The Chicago Tribune's latest poll shows a slight lead, but within the margin of error, for incumbent Pat Quinn over challenger Dan Hynes, 44 percent to 40 parent.
Primary day is February 2.
On the Republican end, weeks of television advertising has placed Andy McKenna with a one percent lead over Jim Ryan, whom this blog has endorsed. Kirk Dillard is five points behind. By the numbers: McKenna is at 19 percent, Ryan at 18 percent, Dillard at 14 percent. Nearly 40 percent of Republicans are undecided or support the other four candidates, including Bob Schillerstrom, who endorsed Ryan yesterday.
