For the first time, Michael Reagan will visit the Tampico, Illinois birthplace of his illustrious father, 40th president Ronald Reagan on February 6. It will be the 99th anniversary of the birth of the Gipper. That's his birthplace on the right, photographed last year.
Michael will give a speech in nearby Dixon that day at a fundraiser for the Reagan Trail Scholarship. The elder Reagan always referred to this northern Illinois community as his hometown.
As the Reagan Centennial approaches, I'll be paying closer attention to the legacy of the greatest president of my lifetime--the only commander-in-chief born in Illinois.
