An argument over the merits of Christmas landed one Stevensville man in jail and another in the hospital last week.
Daniel J. Kohlruss, 34, of Stevensville appeared Monday before Ravalli County Justice Jim Bailey on felony charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Kohlruss and his housemate, Jerry Jordan, apparently engaged in a lively argument over Christmas on Dec. 24 at their home in Stevensville, said an affidavit filed in the case.
"Kohlruss argued to the effect that he does not like Christmas," the affidavit said. "Conversely, Jerry enjoys Christmas very much. The argument escalated. Kohlruss took a swing at Jordan. Jordan took Kohlruss to the ground. A struggle ensued. Kohlruss stabbed Jordan in the leg with a knife.
The two men, as if you didn't already know, had been drinking.
