On the Republican side, the poll of 600 likely GOP voters found Ryan with the support of 26 percent, to 12 percent for Andy McKenna, the former state party chairman. At 10 percent was state Sen. Bill Brady, of Bloomington, an unsuccessful 2006 Republican governor candidate, while state Sen. Kirk Dillard, of Hinsdale, had 9 percent. Three other candidates had the support of 6 percent or less of GOP voters.
But 31 percent of Republican voters were undecided, meaning the shape of the GOP governor contest could change rapidly as the campaigns develop and voters hone in on candidates' messages. The findings indicate name recognition is playing the dominant role in the campaign.
Brady and Dillard have just started running television commercials, and McKenna has been doing so for a month. But Ryan, the two term former attorney general, has not.
WGN-TV reported on the poll during its 9pm news broadcast.
As for the Democrats, Governor Pat Quinn holds a sizable lead over his principal challenger, Dan Hynes, the state comptroller. The two-time running mate of Rod Blagojevich has been lining up union endorsement after union endorsement.

Thanks!
God Speed this very Good Man, Rubes!
I will stick with Dan Proft until the last vote is counted. That's how I roll, Playuh.
Great job GOP. I guess they want 4 more years of the bad dems. Ryan can't win with the Levine Noose around his neck. Kirk Dillard is the only candidate who can win!
Dillard's campaign commercial for Obama will haunt him for the rest of his political career,
Union voters don't think....they vote how they are told to vote.
I'm sticking with Jim Ryan...he has name recognition and good credentials. The Dems have run this state into the ground and we probably will need a tax hike to get this state out of debt. What a suckhole Illinois has become under the Democrats.
