The national energy tax, better known as the national energy tax, will be a hot issue in the Senate tomorrow. As is usually the case, the timing couldn't be worse for the Democrats, tonight will be the coldest evening in months in the Chicago area--temperatures might dip into the 30s in the outlying suburbs.
But the pocket-picking must proceed. And the Senate climate change bill is a rarity. Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), who is not known for writing many bills, along with Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), will introduce their bill tomorrow.
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) gave the bill a chilly reception, "Of course not. Never, never, never," is how he responded when asked if he would support the legislation.
As for tonight, I'll have to switch the heater on.
