Today's government health care warning: UK staffs 16 year-olds at swine flu call center

When government is put in charge of health care, Britain's Daily Mail warns us, bad things can happen.

An NHS (National Health Service) call centre is employing 16-year-olds to assess suspected cases of swine flu.

They earn up to £16.40 ($27 USD) an hour reading out a prepared script of questions.

It is their responsibility to hand out powerful anti-viral drugs such as Tamiflu - known to have violent side-effects.

The revelation comes amid concerns that problems with the phone hotline are leading to incorrect diagnoses.

Imagine: You are a parent with a sick two year-old who may have H1N1 virus. Do you feel more comfortable having a teenager giving you medical advice?
