Pelosi to bring "cap and tax" to vote

Well, you heard it here first. During a GOP Whip Team bloggers' conference call on June 4, Republican Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would put the energy tax bill, generally known as cap-and-trade, on the fast track this summer.

It's a loser bill.

A lot of Democrats in the House have problems with the bill. Cap-and-trade should be called cap-and-tax, because the elaborate carbon trading scheme will raise the price of electricity, particularly in the Midwest--there are many coal-fired power plants in the Heartland.

Is that all?

Nope.

Farmers will get hit hard too. Agriculture is very energy-dependent--trucks, tractors, large buildings (heat and light) don't power themselves. Farmers for the most part grow food products. Which will make it more expensive for Americans to eat.

But the economic stimulus bill boondoggle not only passed the House, but the Senate too.

And of course President Obama signed it.

Watch out...cap-and-tax may be coming. But I'm hoping it's a loser bill because it won't have the votes to make it out of the House.

This will be a hard sell to the American people. It is hard to justify passing on a tax burden for the sake of the environment when the economy is so bad. Even though some polls show that Americans think the economy is getting better : http://www.newsy.com/videos/tale_of_two_polls
Others show that most Americans don't think the stimulus worked and are adverse to government spending.
