I haven't been this upset about a vote since Election Day last year. The House of Representatives voted 219-212 in support of the national energy tax, better known as cap-and-trade.This tax will end up costing a family of four $1,800 a year.
The battle is not over--the bill must pass the Senate, where it faces a dicey future.
But let's not take any chances, and forgive the pun, keep the heat on our legislators.
If you are anywhere near Chicago's Federal Plaza this afternoon, where the Tax Day Tea Party took place, then be there at 1:00pm for a cap-and-trade protest.
Federal Plaza is at 230 S. Dearborn.
Unfortunately, I can't make it, I have to work.
Drill here, drill now, pay less, cap-and-trade is nonsense!

On a final note, six Republicans-in-name-only voted for "cap-and-tax." One of them was Mark Kirk (R-IL), who is being begged by Illinois Republicans to run for the Senate.

Kirk's office in Northbrook had an overfull voicemail no longer taking messages within 20 minutes of the vote.
Just when did they decide to stop answering the phone and "let the machine take it"?
Likely an example of where his constituents stand.
District 10 and 8 (mine) need a tea party candidate either in the R primary or just straight to the General Election (even if it splits the nonWelfare vote.
