Anti-capitalists chow down on freebies in Montana

Missoula to Montana is what Austin is to Texas--the left-wing Valhalla of a red state.

This Billings Gazette story is so rich in irony, you'll gain weight reading it.

A young woman walked into the downtown branch of Wells Fargo on Friday to close her checking account.

Five minutes later, the account was closed and the woman stepped into the sun to join a protest against the very bank from which she'd just withdrawn her money.

She then melted into a crowd of more than 100 activists blocking bank traffic and screaming against bailouts, corporate America and capitalism in general. Back in the bank lobby, another protester helped himself to some free popcorn.

The protesters chanted "Bail us out," oblivious to the fact that government financed bail-outs are socialist in nature. The protest was organized by the Montana branch of the Industrial Workers of the World, a socialist group.

With Friday's numbers down to about half, the remaining protesters were given coupons for free salads, courtesy of a local eatery.

In the War of Ideas, there's no competing with getting something for nothing.

But things aren't that simple.
