Galena, Illinois homes

Two months ago I travelled to Galena, Illinois and I saw a number of grand homes in the historic town. Most of the mansions are bed and breakfasts, such as the Stillman Inn on the upper left.

On the right is the Ryan Mansion, which says its Galena's largest mansion. I didn't see any bigger ones when I was there.

On the lower left is the Ulysses S. Grant home, which is within walking distance of the Stillman Inn. The Grant house, owned by the state, does not accept overnight guests.

Hat tip to Prairie Bluestem for the post idea.

Rolling hills in the area. Very un-Illinois like. Across the river, west of Dubuque, is the "Field of Dreams" farm.

Galena and Jo Daviess County have an enourmous amount of homes, just like the Stillman. We definitely are a unique destination in comparison to the rest of Illinois. Sure hope you can come back again! You friendly source for visitor information... Galena/Jo Daviess County CVB
