Florida congressman introduces presidential eligibility bill

Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL) introduced a bill to require future presidential candidates to prove they are "natural born citizens" of the United States. Now that term, which comes from Article II of the United States Constitution, has never been defined by a federal court, but being born in the U.S. clearly fits the bill.

Which brings us to Posey's bill.

From Andre Shea King's Radio Patriot blog:

Republican freshman Bill Posey, who represents my district here on Florida's Space Coast, has written and introduced a bill -- House Resolution 1503 - that would amend election laws by requiring White House candidates to show a birth certificate to run for the office.

He has done so because the people he represents are asking him to demand accountability from Barack Obama to prove he is who he says he is.

I have known Bill Posey for many years. I knew him when he represented us as a state legislator in Tallahassee. He did a good job for us then, and I never hesitated to let him know it. We've enjoyed a cordial relationship over the years, and he has my respect and trust.

I happen to believe that Obama was born not in Kenya, but in Hawaii. Some people, based on something one of Obama's Kenyan relatives said, think Obama was born there.

Obama could end this speculation by producing a birth certificate, but doesn't want to bother since right-wing energy will be spent pursuing this blind alley, rather that criticizing his agenda. And there is, in my opinion, much to criticize.

But I don't see anything wrong with Posey's bill. What's he's asking for is reasonable.

Actually Obama HAS released his birth certificate. A copy of it has been on his website for months.

I've seen that, but there's been speculation--not from me mind you, that it's been Photoshopped.

The document being asked for has never been released, and that is the problem. Obama produced a computer generated "short form" certification of birth--a document that, basically, says he was born, and it is a document that is not accepted by some State of Hawaii agencies. When I signed up for social security, I had to produce a certified copy of my actual birth certificate--that's sthe document that shows where you were born, in what hospital, the attending physician's name and signature, the name of both parents, etc. THAT is the document Obama refuses to produce. Why?

Scribbler 2099 makes the point Andrea is trying to emphasize...
Scribblers link takes you to a "Certificate of Live Birth", NOT a "Birth Certificate". According to a friend from Hawaii, there IS a difference. ANYONE can get a C.O.L.B.!
What Berg, Taitz, and others are asking for is the "Vault Copy" of Obama's birth certificate. So far, we've not seen it. I too think he was probably born in Hawaii, but I'm another military officer who would refuse an order right now because of questions about his citizenship.
This story isn't over.
