Sen. Roland Burris (D-Blagojevich) is party of that twisted Blago legacy.
Here's what the Chicago Sun-Times just discovered on Burris and Blago:
On the same December day then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich named Roland Burris to fill President Obama's U.S. Senate vacancy, Burris' right-hand political man, Fred Lebed, phoned an associate and told him, "We'll have to do some things for the governor."
That's the recollection of the associate, a health-care and political consultant named John Ruff, who went on to become one of Burris' co-plaintiffs on a January lawsuit that sought to help Burris claim his Senate seat.
That's not all that the Sun-Times has on the Blago-Burris beat. The paper is reporting that a downstate prosecutor who has been investigating Burris' testimony in front of an Illinois House committee wants access to some of the Blagojevich recordings made by the US Attorney's office.
I have to--again--say this. The whole Burris mess could have been avoided by calling a special election that would decide who would replace Barack Obama. But Illinois Democrats, from Sen. Dick Durbin on down, backed off support of a special election.

The IL legislature, yesterday, voted down another call for a special election.
With DeLeo and Cullerton on that committee, I can't say that I'm surprised.
Disgusted and appalled, but not surprised.
And, Gov. Quinn isn't acting as tough on this matter as he has.
That tells me something that doesn't surprise me, either.
