Rich Miller of Capitol Fax points out the obvious: Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) is the man at the center of the Roland Burris Senate fiasco.
Here's my take: Durbin of course didn't appoint Burris, impeached governor Rod Blagojevich did, but Durbin's bold statements, followed up by flip-flops and equivocations, made a bad situation much worse.
Sadly, Durbin won't face voters for another six years.
But remember: Durbin was the first prominent politician to call for a special election to prevent the tainted Blago choosing Barack Obama's replacement.
