A picture Ill. Rep. Lou Lang doesn't want you to see

My representative in the Illinois House of Representative is Lou Lang (D-Skokie), chairman of the House Gaming Committee and widely regarded as a close friend of the casino industry in this state.

Lang, who sits on the House impeachment panel, has been playing the role of the tough guy, as the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune has reported.

The Rockford Register-Star named Lang as among the "governor's toughest critics."

Well, how does Lang explain that photograph, which I took in the summer of 2007, on the front window of his Skokie office?

I've always wondered why Michael J. Madigan was very willing to serve as a camapaign chair only to find himself feuding with Blago the very next year after 2006 elections.

Levois--

Probably because the overriding concern is to get a Democrat elected. They worry about personal differences later.

Our side has to be different. What did backing candidates Conrad Burns of Montana or Ted Stevens of Alaska get the GOP?

Democratic senators.

Burns, who had deep ties to imprisoned lobbyist Jack Abramoff, hasn't been accused of crimes, but he should have been pushed aside in 2006 for a more electable candidate. Stevens was under federal investigation at least a year before he was indicted.

As for Blago, there are warning signs around him as soon as he was sworn in.
