It's official: Junior is Blago's Candidate 5

From AP:

A lawyer for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. says the congressman is the "Senate Candidate 5" mentioned in the federal corruption complaint against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Attorney James D. Montgomery Sr. said Wednesday that Jackson never had a "pay-to-play" conversation with Blagojevich.

It's official.

I just watched Junior's press conference on CNN, he sounded pretty defensive by the way, where he denounce "pay-to-play" politics. Where were his forceful rebukes when Tony Rezko was indicted two years ago?

The South Side Chicago congressman was an early supporter for Barack Obama's US Senate campaign, Obama was viewed as an underdog in the early days of that race.

And "Junior" is not just some guy that "kind of knows" President-elect Barack Obama, as the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet wrote in her blog in August:

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) has a unique place in the Barack Obama story. He's a personal friend--one of his sisters sang at Barack and Michelle's wedding--a political ally--they come out of the complex political mix of Chicago's South Side-and he's a national co-chair of the presidential campaign.

Junior was on the defensive.
He probably won't be. The "Messiah's" buddy Stroger is
as crooked as a 3 dollar bill, and
he hasn't been indicted for any
wrong doing yet. I know he's
only a county official, but Stroger
like any other corrupt politician
should be held accountable. As for
Blago, I knew it was a matter of
time before he'd get busted. I
can't help feeling bad for his
kids, this has to have had some
effect on them.
