New McCain ad: "Broken"
Washington is "broken," that's the message of the latest John McCain campaign ad. He's the "original maverick" who has "fought corruption in both parties."
I'd like to add--and make clear that this is not in the McCain ad--that Obama has paid at best lip service to corruption in Illinois. There is plenty of subject matter here. His longtime friend, Tony Rezko, is spending his days--and nights--at Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional Center awaiting sentencing for his corruption crimes.

Sen. McCain has had nearly 30 years to do these things... If he truly has what it takes to lead, why is DC still "Broken" -- to use his own word?
On the other hand, even though he was a freshman Senator in the minority party at the time, Sen. Obama teamed up with conservative Sen. Tom Coburn to draft the open books legislation known as Google for Government so we Americans can look up how much our government is spending on various items. That's honesty in government and Obama sponsored it and Bush signed it into law.
Look Rob, McCain and Obama are 2 of 100 Senators there. Even "the Messiah" couldn't make great changes there during his 143 days within its confines, and the small changes he did make were with the help of Tom Coburn.
Now if we could just get him to tell us more about his financial dealings with Hamas... that would be true honesty and openness!
Grey,
Either he's the Anti-Christ (according to McCain's supporters) or the Second Coming (according to McCain supporters)... cons need to pick a pointless line of attack and stick with it. ;)
The "small changes" Obama made on government transparency hadn't been made in the almost three decades McCain has served in "Broken" Washington... and yes, when a member of the minority party has some legislation they'd like to get through the chamber, they need "the help of" a member of the majority party.
McCain was in that majority at the time, and for many years before that. Why didn't he put this legislation in place, by his maverickly self or with "the help of" Tom Coburn?
And where was McCain on the legislation that Obama drafted with "the help of" Dick Lugar on controlling loose nukes? Did he not think that leftover Soviet-era nukes were important? Why?
In fact, where has McCain been since April? He hasn't set foot in a committee meeting or done his job as Arizona's Senator when it comes time to vote on legislation. By contrast, Obama has actually flown back to DC on several occasions to place his vote on important matters like the modern GI Bill that McCain opposed but couldn't quite bring himself to vote against.
Don't let your nose grow too long, Grey. It won't look good with that beard. ;)
Personally Rob, I just think he's a gaffe prone fool, and as we get closer to the election I think it'll be more and more interesting to watch guys like you trying to dance around questions, as you have here.
I agree McCain seems to be a "gaffe prone fool" of late... ;) Even he's now agreeing with Obama on the tire pressure thing
Seeing as how everyone from NASCAR to AAA to the Bush Administration was already saying the same thing about tire pressure anyway I guess it's not surprising Mac would finally give up on that silliness.
When will McCain come clean on his ties to Saudi Arabia? That story has more substance than your tinfoil hat malarkey about Hamas.
And pointing out the hollowness of your complaints is hardly "dancing around" anything.
My final shot on the "correct tire pressures will equal any oil drilling gains" argument:
Obama is just wrong.
And since Rob won't answer, I'll answer for him:
I don't think Obama is lying, so I'll just conclude it's another stupid gaffe from this gaffe-prone newbie.
I'm done.
I did answer, on another thread...
And you've got it wrong -- it doesn't equal it at all. Something as simple as tire pressure actually saves more oil in a year than drilling in the outer continental shelf, even at max output, will produce in a year.
