The news that Hillary Rodham Clinton has officially acknowledged that she's open to serving as Barack Obama's running mate this fall is news, because it's the first time she responded, at least in public, that she'd be willing to take a spot on the bottom of the ticket.
This may not be the dream ticket the Democrats envision. The sniping between the two over the last five months will be replayed, on YouTube for sure, and possibly in John McCain commercials this fall. It also gives the opportunity to people like myself to link the Bill and Hillary Clinton scandals to the shady characters surrounding Obama, for instance, Tony Rezko.
Which will give the picture up above new life.

I'm a little skeptical. It certainly doesn't fit the Hillary narrative, unless a lot of us have misread her badly.
She may be able to reconcile with Obama, but I wonder about her supporters. It's hard to imagine that that sizeable percentage who said they would vote for McCain instead of Obama would suddenly turn sweet on Obama just because Hillary is playing second fiddle. I'm not suggesting they would still vote McCain, but they may sit the election out.
I personally know several people who initially supported Obama but turned against him when Rev. Wright reared his ugly head. I'll be interested to see how an Obama/Clinton ticket would impact their choice.
