Hillary's options dwindle

One of the weapons in Hillary Clinton's arsenal is to initiate the "nuclear option," pulling out all stops to get the Michigan and Florida delegates--all of them--seated at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

And she has to work with the superdelegates, as Fox News reports:

"Absent a comfortable win in Indiana, it's hard to see how the Clinton campaign can go forward from here," FOX News contributor Karl Rove said, noting the results from Tuesday’s contests seemed to signal the end of the primary race and the beginning of the general election campaign.

"It's gonna be much harder for her tomorrow," Democratic strategist Bob Beckel said late Tuesday.

But the Clinton campaign showed no signs of letting up even as it fought rumors that it was holding a "crisis: meeting with superdelegates on Wednesday to keep them from jumping to Obama.

The campaign, which canceled Clinton's Wednesday morning show appearances, confirmed it will meet superdelegates but said it's not anything unusual. Aides say the outcome of Tuesday’s primaries changes nothing and the race moves on to the remaining six contests.

And now this morning, news comes out that Sen. Clinton loaned her campaign $6.4 million, previously she had lent her political fund $5 million.

At some point she's going to have to ask herself, "Is it worth it?"

I hate to say it, but it looks like Hill is done. There is no way she is going to convince enough superdelegates to stick with her. There is too much personally/politically at stake for each of those individuals to be on the wrong side of the selection process. Too bad, I would have liked to see this fight drag on until the convention and, frankly, I find her preferable to Obama (damning with faint praise, indeed).

Only if one believes she wants this bad enough. And I believe she wants it bad enough. She might engage in a sort of Machiavellian strategy to get the nomination in four years if she doesn't get it this year. I believe she would pull out all the stops.
