In among them was a request for $1 million in federal funding in 2006 for a new pavilion at the University of Chicago Hospitals, where his wife, Michelle Obama, was a vice president at the time. The request was not ultimately included when Congress passed spending legislation that year, according to the Obama campaign.
Just two months after Barack Obama was sworn in as a senator, Michelle Obama's compensation from the University of Chicago Hospitals almost tripled, going from $122,000 to $317,000 a year.

A shade off-topic (kinda), but just thought you might be interested (yet not surprised) to know that the Senate vote on an earmark moratorium failed last night (LATE last night, thanks Harry).
Granted, the presidential candidates voted for the moratorium, but our fiscally careful other senator, Dick Durbin, voted against it.
Actually, nearly, if not all of the D's, and a few of the RINOs voted against it, as well.
I'm shocked, I tell ya'. Shocked.
Durbin's up for re-election this year, if I'm not mistaken.
So, when you're not voting for Obama in the general, everyone make sure to do to Dick what he did to earmark reform.
