From AP:
Sen. Barack Obama predicted Wednesday that Republicans will have a dump truck full of dirt to unload on Hillary Rodham Clinton if the former first lady wins the Democratic presidential nomination. Obama said he offers the party its best hope of winning the White House, a claim Clinton also made.
Of course in the realm of political dirt, Obama's youth is an advantage. But he shouldn't be so cocky.
From the same article:
A spokesman for the Republican National Committee responded to Obama, saying there would be material to use against him, too.
"With all due respect to the Clinton 'machine', should Barack Obama win the nomination, I'm sure Republicans will have plenty of arguments to level against the Senate's 'most liberal' member," said Alex Conant. The reference was to Obama's ranking by National Journal magazine as the most liberal senator last year.
Yes, it's true, read about it right here.
But there is no need to worry, Obama has been fully vetted!
Also from the same article:
Asked about Clinton's recent comment that she would not allow herself to be victimized by the type of Swift Boat-style attacks that were leveled against the Democratic nominee, Sen. John Kerry, in the 2004 race, Obama said he had been vetted by his opponent in the nominating campaign.
"I have to just respond by saying that the Clinton research operation is about as good as anybody's out there," he said.
Kerry is as clueless as ever, and that's pretty clueless. Hillary Clinton has uttered the word "Rezko," once, in a CNN debate last month. She didn't even utter Tony Rezko's full name.
Oh, the alleged-sock puppet Hillary blogs have hit Obama pretty hard on his ties to his now-jailed friend. But to go full throttle on Rezko, you have to bring into the attacks Rezko's kudzu-like infiltration of Illinois state government.
Senator Clinton, so as to not offend members of her party, as well as to avoid reminding Republicans and independents that the corrupt state of Ilinois is run by Democrats, will be forced to go after Obama with Rezko with one hand tied behind her back. That is, if she chooses to say "Rezko" again.
John McCain won't have to worry about offending Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois, who for all we know may have a Rezko-related indictment handed to him between now and November.
Because every night Tony Rezko endures "lights out" at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, and he might want to start talking...
