MSNBC maladies

Low-rated cable news television network, MSNBC, was in the news this week because of a stupid on-air comment comment made by political analysist David Shuster, who said about Hillary Clinton's daughter, "Doesn't it seem as if Chelsea is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?"

Patterico adds some needed background on this story:

We have news this afternoon that David Shuster at MSNBC has now been suspended for his "Pimped Out" comment yesterday in describing Bill Clinton's use of WH interns in the Oval Office during …..

Wait …. no, apparently I have it wrong …. Shuster was commenting on Bill and Hillary Clinton’s use of their own daughter in the campaign.

I feel for Shuster here — I’m sure he simply got confused. For well over a year now his bosses at MSNBC have been egging him on to say ever more outrageous and blatantly false things about all things Republican. Since the MSNBC hosts have clearly lined up behind Obama, I’m sure Shuster figured the same Rules of Engagement applied to the anti-Obama forces in the Democrat party.

Aha...Obama! I saw author and former CBS News correspondent Bernie Goldberg talk about this assinine (But aren't they all?) comment made this week by "Softball" host Chris Matthews made earlier this week, while appearing on the O'Reilly Factor.

Let me tell you something about Barack Obama. If you're actually in the room when he gives one of those speeches and you don't cry, you're not American.

Since probably only a few thousand people actual saw Matthews that night, only they know if Matthews dropped his pants after uttering those lines.

H/T to Reverse Spin for the Patterico link.
