Former president Bill Clinton, since his wife's Iowa Caucuses loss, has been taking a more visible role in the HRC campaign. Again. Whenever she gets in trouble, Bubba parachutes in, and improves matters for her.
Obama was interviewed by ABC News' Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.
After starting off with his "need for change" stump speech, Obama went on the attack, sort of, challenging his chief rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Bill Clinton. Oops, make that Hillary Clinton.
In responding to Bill Clinton's claim that Nevada Caucus voters were intimidated by Obama supporters, Obama said:
This has become a habit, and one of the things that we're going to have to do is to directly confront Bill Clinton when he's making statements that are not factually accurate.
That kind of word-parsing might've gotten Obama onto the Harvard Law Review, but if the former president is lying (which he has been caught doing in the past), then say it.
Of course among many Democrats, Bill Clinton is very popular, but if Obama wants to win the nomination, and then the presidency, then he has to strike back at Bill Clinton as the situation warrants, and most importantly, remind voters why they should vote for Barack Obama not Hillary Rodham Clinton, which he did not due in the Roberts segment.
Since Obama polls better than HRC against all of the potential Republican opponents, he needs to use that (Yes, he has done it) a lot more.
Or he'll end up in the Clinton-pincers.
Looking ahead to the general election, a Bubba rapid deployemnt force will be far less effective, and could backfire, leading independents to vote for the GOP candidate in November.
Which works for me.
Oh, Senator Obama: When are you going to stop pandering to the Daily Kos crown and make appearances like this on the Fox News Channel?
The picture comes courtesy of the Chicagoist. They liked it, but a commenter there, and I have to agree, thought it was "a bit Orwellian."
