Former HS teacher for Hillary retires

It's one thing to be in a classrom, and it's entirely different being a student of a teacher in classroom. Just as Hillary Rodham Clinton was in the classrom with Judge Robert Bork, so she was with Maine East High School's Paul Carlson.

Hillary attended Maine East, but later transferred to the just-constructed Maine South, where she graduated.

Carlson was also never shy about airing his conservative opinions in the classroom, a quality that got him fired briefly in 1962.

One issue that concerns Carlson is political correctness in academia. He believes it is a "cancer" in the schools and a form of "fascism," forcing people to think a certain way and limit the English language.

"It's the most dangerous thing that has happened in public education," said Carlson.
