My fall road trip: Ronald Reagan's birthplace
Part two of my fall road trip. After leaving Dixon, Ronald Reagan's boyhood home, I headed southwest to tiny Tampico, IL. Ronald Reagan was born on the second floor of the First National Bank building.
Tampico is a tiny town. 800 people. The amazing thing about Tampico is that in this part of Illinois--where, even 95 years ago--most people would view this village as being too little and too off-the-beaten path to be matter in the affairs of the nation, or the world: A future president would be born. Right up in the second floor the bank building.
As Pat Curley of Brainster noted, 25 years ago today, Ronald Reagan was elected to his first term as president. The day before that, a double rainbow appeared over the Reagan birthplace.
God Bless America!
