Axehead Lake in Des Plaines, Illinois was particularly striking yesterday afternoon. I don't know if it was the ice--or the angle of the sun--but it's rare to see water in such relatively small amounts to take on such a dark blue hue.

Axehead Lake is one of the many bodies of water--dubbed borrow-pits--created when fill was needed for the construction of the Tri-State Tollway.
