Yesterday and this morning over six inches of rain deluged the Chicago area. Here are some pictures I took near my home.
That's a much-more aggressive than usual North Branch of the Chicago River--at Touhy Avenue in Niles.
A bit north of there, the river is almost at the level of the bottom of the Caldwell Avenue bridge.
The river went over its banks in Miami Woods in Morton Grove--as well as many other places.
A few feet away--maple and oak trees mimicking a cypress swamp.
An office building at Old Orchard and Harms in Skokie was flooded.
Old Orchard Road is closed...about three blocks away there was a Chevrolet Malibu partially submerged in the water.
There's that Chevy.
A house in Glenview.
Up in Lake Forest, the Onwentsia Club's golf course is flooded.
That's Interstate 94--the Edens Expressway--which was closed in the area near Morton Grove until early this afternoon.
