Lib smear: Walsh did NOT say Tammy Duckworth isn't a hero

Joe Walsh van, Sunday's town hall
Where in this video does Joe Walsh explicitly say that his Democratic opponent, Tammy Duckworth, is not a hero?

At the bottom of this post are my videos from Sunday's town hall in Elk Grove Village. I arrived late and was not there when Walsh said this about Duckworth's military service. "Now I'm running against a woman who — I mean, my God — that's all she talks about."

Below are Walsh's comments in their entirety from that video:
But understand something about John McCain. His political advisors day after day had to take him and almost throw him against the wall and hit him against the head and say, "Senator, you have to let people know you served, you have talk about what you did." He didn't want to do it. He wouldn't do it. Day after day they had to convince him. And finally he talked a little bit about it, but it was very uncomfortable for him. That's what so noble about our heroes. Now, I'm running against a woman, my God, that's all she talks about. Our true heroes--the men and women who served us--the last thing in the world they talk about....that's why we are so indebted and in awe of what they have done.
Duckworth lost the lower part of both of her legs while serving as a helicopter pilot in Iraq.

Okay, Walsh could have phrased his comments much better, but he didn't flat out say she wasn't a hero.

Here is Walsh's statement about his Sunday remarks:
Of course Tammy Duckworth is a hero. I have called her a hero 100's of times in the past four months. Just like every man and woman who has worn the uniform, her service demands — demands — our utmost respect. That's why I recognize our veterans at the beginning of every one of my public town halls. However, unlike most veterans I have had the honor to meet since my election to Congress, who rarely if ever talk about their service or the combat they've seen, that is darn near all of what Tammy Duckworth talks about. Her service demands our thanks and our respect but not our vote. She is running for Congress — and there are real problems in this country like our massive debt, high unemployment and the ObamaCare tax. We are about four months from Election Day and the people of Illinois have no idea where Tammy Duckworth stands on these issues because she dodges debate requests, ignores our invitations to speak at town halls, refuses to talk about solutions and constantly reminds voters of her war service. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with her for her service and her loss but these are serious times and the people of Illinois deserve to know what she thinks about real issues and what she will do as a congresswoman.
Looking at Duckworth's campaign web site, here are the categories on issues?
The American Dream

Jobs & Economy

Budget, Deficit & Taxes

Education

Bipartisanship

Energy, Gas & Environment

Social Security

National Defense & Foreign Policy

Afghanistan

Civil Rights

Veterans Issues
Anything missing? Health care. Duckworth, what is your ObamaCare position? Discussions about ObamaCare dominated the Walsh town hall.

MSNBC is having orgasms over this video, which was recorded by the liberal organization Think Progress.

Oh, by the way, Obama Svengali David Axelrod isn't above an appeal to sympathy in regards to Duckworth's war injuries expressing his hope in regards to her arriving in Congress next year "on those titanium legs and with that spine of steel."

While I believe Duckworth is a hero and I am grateful for her service to our country, Illinois and America needs more members of Congress like Joe Walsh.

Liberals have ruined Illinois.

Walsh was talking about McCain's reluctance to mention his POW years while campaigning.

McCain was not reluctant to mention his POW years. His first campaign commercial from 2008 featured his POW experience. To say differently is simply not true and exposes you to be the Walsh apologist. The only smear that took place was the one that Walsh made on Lt. Col. Duckworth implying that speaking of her service is not noble and means she is not a "true hero." As much as he criticizes her for bringing up her service it seems as though Screamin' Joe is the one that's always bringing it up. Of course he only brings it up to deride and attack her personally. If he had any sense whatsoever he would stop making personal attacks and discuss the issues but I guess he doesn't feel the voters of the 8th district want to hear about his lack of service.
