IL comptroller: Unpaid bills could be as high as $9 billion

ILL-inois it is. State comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, a Republican, says that her office has $5 billion in unpaid bills. But since state agencies take care of their own bills, or attempt to, Topinka says that the Land of Lincoln could really owe $9 billion.

Last year Illinois' hapless governor, Democrat Pat Quinn,  joined by his enablers in the General Assembly, hiked the personal income tax rate by 67 percent and the corporate rate by 46 percent. Quinn claimed that the increase was temporary.

What a mess.
